Basic Rules for Installation

  • AIR TERMIALS MUST BE LOCATED WITHIN 2′ OF AND OUTSIDE CORNER OR RIDGE END
  • AIR TERMINALS MUST BE SPACED 20′ APART MAXIMUM
  • CABLE MUST BE FASTENED 36″ O.C. MAX
  • CABLE BENDS SHALL NOT BE LESS THAT AN 8″ RADIUS
  • CABLES SHALL BE RUN HORIZONTAL OR IN A DOWNWARD PATH TO GROUND. IF A CABLE MUST BE RUN UPHILL IT MUST BE RUN AT A 1/4″ SLOPE OR LESS
  • METAL BODIES SUCH AS: ATTIC VENTS, VENTS THRU THE ROOF, GUTTERS, ETC. LOCATED WITHIN 6′ OF THE MAIN LIGHTNING PROTECTION CABLE MUST BE BONDED TO THE SYSTEM WITH SECONDARY MATERIAL MINIMUM
  • ALL METAL BODIES THAT ARE HIGHER THAN THE LIGHNTING RODS MUST BE BONDED TO THE LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM MUST BE BONDED TO THE FULL SIZE CABLE
  • ALL ANTENNAS, SATALITE DISHES, ETC. MUST BE BONDED TO THE SYSTEM WITH A MAIN LIGHTNING PROTECTION CABLE.
  • THERE MUST BE A GROUND ROD FOR EVERY 100′ OF PERIMETER SURROUNDING THE STRUCTURE.
    EXAMPLE - 627′ PERIMETER NEEDS 7 GROUND RODS
    EXAMPLE - 701′ PERIMETER NEEDS 8 GROUND RODS
    EXAMPLE - 800′ PERIMETER NEEDS 8 GROUND RODS
